Schalke pick up Bielefeld's Lasme
FC Schalke 04 unveiled French attacker Bryan Lasme as their third summer signing on Saturday.
After picking up midfielders Ron Schallenberg and Paul Seguin, FC Schalke 04 have also added an attacking forward as part of their preparation for the upcoming 2. Bundesliga campaign. DSC Arminia Bielefeld winger/striker Bryan Lasme was unveiled as the Gelsenkirchen's third summer signing on Saturday afternoon.
Lasme was available on a free transfer following Bielefeld's relegation. Virtually all of the DSC players have been released from their contracts after the club dropped down to the third division just one season after being relegated from the first. Other valuable attackers such as Robin Hack (Gladbach) and Masaya Okugawa (Augsburg) are on the verge of joining top-tier sides.
Lasme himself has Bundesliga experience under his belt. The now 24-year-old contested 23 league fixtures during the 2021/22 campaign after Bielefeld acquired him during the summer, scoring two goals. All told, he's made 61 competitive appearances since moving to the Teutoburgs and racked up 16 scorer points.
"Bryan brings a very exciting skill set, especially on the flanks," Schalke sporting director André Hechelmann remarked in a statement accompanying the signing, "At 1.94 meters tall, his drive and speed are exceptional. He gives us even more variability in attack In addition, Bryan's demeanor in personal conversations has absolutely convinced us that he will be an enhancement for our team, both athletically and personally."
Lasme himself called the switch to Schalke "a big step forward professionally" and expressed eagerness in helping the Königsblauen secure promotion back to the top-flight. The former French youth international's new contract runs through 2027.
