Eberl wants to keep Xavi Simons at Leipzig
RB Leipzig boss Max Eberl says the club will do everything in their power to keep Xavi Simons at the club beyond the end of the season.
Earlier this month, RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose revealed his desire to keep Paris Saint-Germain loanee Xavi Simons beyond the end of the season, when his loan expires.
RB Leipzig managing director for sport Max Eberl is apparently fully on board with this plan.
"Of course we have the intention to extend [his stay] in the best case," Eberl told Kicker.
"Xavi has made a very good start and he's on a very good run at the moment."
Leipzig don't have an option to buy the young Dutchman, but remain hopeful of keeping him anyway.
"I think we are binding him emotionally to RB Leipzig. He identifies with us, with the team and the club," Eberl said.
"We're trying to get him to stay with us longer in the summer of 2024."
Simons' contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until 2027.
