Kimmich laments "stupid and bitter" red card

Joshua Kimmich was frustrated with himself after being sent off just four minutes into Bayern's win over Darmstadt on Saturday.
Bayern Munich suffered an early setback in Saturday's Bundesliga match against Darmstadt when Joshua Kimmich was shown a straight red card just four minutes into the game.

The Germany international lost possession to Marvin Mehlem at the back and was sent off after being adjudged to have brought him down.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Kimmich took the blame for the red card, describing it as "stupid and bitter".

"At first I pulled him a bit, but he kept going. When he fell, there was no contact and I was not responsible for him falling," Kimmich said.

"But it was definitely my fault for losing the ball in the first place. It was a very stupid and bitter red card and I'm annoyed that I'll miss the Dortmund game."

Despite the early red card, Bayern went on to a dominant 8-0 win in a wild match in which Darmstadt were reduced to nine men.
