Rose on competition between Blaswich and Gulacsi: "We now have two number ones"

RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has spoken out about the fierce competition between Janis Blaswich and Peter Gulacsi.
Janis Blaswich and Peter Gulacsi are locked in a tight battle for the starting spot in the RB Leipzig goal.

At a press conference on Friday, RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose confirmed that Blaswich will remain in goal for the upcoming match against Eintracht Frankfurt, but also stressed that the competition for the position is fierce.

"We now have two number ones. From a sporting point of view, they are absolutely equal," said Rose.

"Janis is facing maximum competition right now. He doesn't feel any pressure and we don't have to discuss it after every little bad pass or little weakness and ask if Pete will get his turn.

"This is an absolute luxury situation that both have taken very positively," Rose concluded.

Gulacsi was Leipzig's clear first-choice goalkeeper for many years before suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in 2022. When Gulacsi returned last year, Blaswich managed to hold on to his starting spot.
