Werder Bremen star Maximilian Eggestein is still to decide if he wants to leave or extend his current deal which runs until 2020.

According to Sport Bild, Eggestein has been targeted by Borussia Dortmund, and the midfielder is flattered by BVB's reported interest in him.

"Of course, this is a nice recognition," Eggestein said in an interview with Bild.

"I don't know when my decision will come yet. The moment has come to deal with it more intensively," the 22-year-old said when asked about his future and continued:

"You have to ask yourself whether a transfer makes sense now. Werder are a big club, and I've worked to gain a certain status here. If I join a new club, I'd have to get back into this role."

If Eggestein, who has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, decides that he wants to leave, it's conceivable that he will be sold this summer so Werder can cash in on him.

However, Werder sporting director Frank Baumann says Eggestein could stay beyond the summer in any case.

"That Maximilian arouses the interest of other clubs is well known. But you should also deal with the facts. And the fact is that 'Maxi' is still under contract with us beyond the summer," the Werder boss told Deichstube.

Eggestein has played 25 games for Werder this season with six goals and two assists to his name.
