Iglesias replaces Mbamba on Leverkusen's Europa League squad

A place on his club's Europa League roster was officially confirmed for newly acquired Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker Borja Iglesias on Friday.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen officially made room for newly acquired Spanish striker Borja Iglesias on their Europa League roster on Friday. The 31-year-old will take the place of teenage talent Noah Mbamba, who was trusted to serve on Xabi Alonso's European selection just this past autumn. The decision to drop the 19-year-old is not insignificant as Mbamba did log two long relief shifts in the UEL group phase.

Mbamba played a total of 76 minutes as a sub in the final two group stage games. The former Genk and Club Brugge academy man registered an assist in the 5-1 victory over Molde FK on the final day of group-stage-play. Mbamba has made three relief appearances in the league, pocketing an assist in Leverkusen's 5-1 win over Darmstadt on match-day three.

Leverkusen have bypassed the initial UEL playoff rounds with their perfect group phase. Germany's red company team are scheduled to contest their next fixture in the current competition on March 7th. Xabi Alonso's Werkself will learn their next opponents on February 23rd courtesy of a draw scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the upcoming knockout phase.
