On Monday, SC Freiburg announced that Christian Streich will leave the club at the end of the season after more than 12 years as head coach.

Apparently, Freibrug could look to their own ranks to replace the veteran coach.

Sky Germany reports that former Freiburg captain Julian Schuster is the top candidate to succeed the 58-year-old.

The 38-year-old made 242 appearances for Freiburg and is currently working as a talent management coordinator for the club.

According to Sky, Freiburg also thought about reserve team coach Thomas Stamm, but it's been decided that the 41-year-old will not replace Streich.
