Arsenal FC have officially confirmed the signing of Piero Hincapié on a permanent basis from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 24-year-old already played for the Gunners on loan last season, and the obligation to buy negotiated has now been fulfilled.

As a result, the Rhineland outfit who finished sixth in the Bundesliga last season can look forward to a package worth €52million.

A reported €6million will be paid to cover the loan fee, with a further €46million coming from the obligation to buy clause.

However, whether the Ecuadorian will remain in London beyond the summer is apparently not yet set in stone.

Real Madrid have expressed interest in the versatile defender, who can play both on the left and in the center.

Whether a move to Los Blancos will materialize during the current summer transfer window remains to be seen.
