FC Augsburg completed a permanent move for Swiss international Faian Rieder from Stade Rennais. The attacking midfielder signed a deal until 2030. He will wear the number 32 for the club in Bavaria.

Rieder spent last season on loan at Stuttgart, where he played 33 games in all competitions. That includes four matches in Stuttgart’s DFB-Pokal triumph. Back in Rennes, he featured in each of the first three Ligue 1 games for the club.

“In Fabian (Rieder), we’ve managed to sign an internationally experienced and sought-after player for FCA. He has impressive vision and a great left foot. He’s also got a lot of stamina and embodies the character that we want to see on the pitch,” said Augsburg’s sporting director, Benni Webster.

Rieder is also a three-time Swiss champion with Young Boys. He’s now joining the Switzerland national team before returning to his new club following the international break
