Olise named Bundesliga Rookie of the Season

Michael Olise has been named Bundesliga Rookie of the Season following a standout debut campaign in Germany’s top flight.

Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has been won the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Season award.

The announcement came after Bayern’s 4–0 win over Hoffenheim, where Olise scored a superb free-kick before setting up Joshua Kimmich's goal.

Olise has quickly established himself as a fan favorite at Säbener Straße after joining from Crystal Palace last summer.

He finishes his debut Bundesliga campaign with an outstanding 12 goals and 18 assists in 34 appearances.

“The kid is an absolute joy to watch. Everything he does looks so effortless and relaxed, but he plays with real seriousness. He’s not a showboater - he plays for the team,” said sporting director Christoph Freund.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany was equally full of praise for the winger, saying:

“He’s become one of our most important players this season. That’s not something you can take for granted, especially when it’s your first year playing in the Bundesliga at this level.”
