Raúl remains favourite for Schalke 04 job

Despite some rumours that former Schalke legend Raul is going to turn down the Schalke job, he remains the favourite. However, one backup solution would involve interim coach Jakob Fimpel taking charge for the foreseeable future.

Schalke 04 are looking to turn back to the glory days of the early 2010s by signing former global star Raúl as a manager.

The Spaniard is said to be slightly interested in a new role abroad (Bild) and has been in charge of Real Madrid's reverse team since 2019.

These rumours come as a result of Karel Geraerts' sacking after an embarassing 5-3 loss at home to Darmstadt 98.

Raul's heights in football for the Royal Blues came in the 2010-11 season where he reached the semi-finals of the Champions League alongside young goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Currently, interim coach Jakob Frimpel is at the helm at Schalke but the club have higher ambitions in appointing future Real Madrid coach hopeful Raul.

Schalke currently sit in 16th place in the 2. Bundesliga and are one point off bottom in the league.
