Sky Sports Germany’s journalist, Florian Plettenberg, believes negotiations between Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano could take place in the coming days.

Content with their star-studded squad, Die Rekordmeister set out their stall to extend some of their players’ contracts in recent months.

Jamal Musiala’s extension acts as a prime example, as does the successful agreement with Alphonso Davies who both penned deals until 2030.

It is now understood that French international Upamecano could also be on the verge of a lengthy extension beyond his current deal which expires in 2026.

Although final details still need to be ironed out between all parties, the 26-year-old could also represent the Bavarian giants up to 2030.

Upamecano, whose €42.5million release clause at RB Leipzig was activated by Bayern in 2021, has made 101 appearances since and appears to be central to Vincent Kompany’s plans.
