When will Alphonso Davies return to action? That's probably a question many Bayern Munich fans have been asking themselves since the Canadian international resumed team training around two weeks ago.

It now appears the wait won’t be much longer. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany revealed at a press conference on Tuesday that Davies is close to returning, though Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal clash against 1. FC Union Berlin comes too soon for him.

“We almost have Alphonso Davies back, but he won't make this game,” Kompany said.

Davies has been unavailable since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a game for Canada in March.

Aside from Davies, Kompany should have a full squad available for the upcoming match.

“Everyone else is fit, the squad is looking good. But it's winter, sometimes someone catches a cold - but no major issues,” he said.
