After much speculation, Mathys Tel finally left Bayern Munich on deadline day to join Tottenham on loan.

Commenting on the transfer, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said in a press release:

“Mathys Tel came to Bayern as a very young player and has continued to develop at the highest level here.

“He hasn’t got the playing time he’d wished of late, so came to us with the desire to change something.”

The deal includes an option to buy, reportedly worth €55 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

“In our talks together, we have now developed a set-up that offers Mathys, Bayern and Tottenham Hotspur an excellent opportunity,” said Eberl.
