Bayern Munich have confirmed that Hiroki Ito has suffered a muscle strain in his right hamstring.

The club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, told Sky on Friday that the Japanese defender is expected to be sidelined for “two to three weeks.”

With Alphonso Davies also unavailable, Josip Stanisic is likely to operate at left-back against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening, with Konrad Laimer playing on the right side of defence.

Ito, 26, has struggled with injuries since joining Bayern from Stuttgart in the summer of 2024.

After missing the start of the season with a metatarsal fracture, he has made 15 appearances so far this campaign.
