Eugen Polanksi will continue as head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach into the 2026-27 season, the club confirmed this evening.
In a media briefing, Rouven Schröder revealed that the 40-year-old will remain in charge with a couple of tweaks made to accompany him.
“We jointly decided to continue with Eugen as head coach. At the same time, we are convinced that there need to be personnel changes.
"[Changes needed] in the playing squad, but also in the coaching staff. We have already started this process with the first transfers.
“As a young coach at his first Bundesliga club, Eugen has already mastered several challenges. He didn't have a long preseason with the team to build something up.
"He arrived in a difficult situation – including a new sporting director – and he accepted it and ultimately led to success. He handled numerous high-pressure situations throughout the season.
“And last but not least: he fulfilled his mission: we were determined to stay in the league. Now we want to give Eugen the opportunity to have a preseason to implement his ideas,” he said.
