Leverkusen make Tah’s departure official

Yesterday, Xabi Alonso confirmed to the media that he’ll leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season. And, now, the club has officially confirmed Jonathan Tah’s exit.

Bayer Leverkusen’s anticipated exodus started even before the season ended. While German media report Florian Wirtz’s impending move to Bayern Munich, Jonathan Tah followed Xabi Alonso by seeing the exit door.

The German international spent ten years at the club, with last season’s domestic double the pinnacle of his time at the BayArena. In his departing interview posted on the club’s YouTube channel, current and past Leverkusen figures wished him well for the rest of his career.

"It's hard to say goodbye after so many years. Everything has grown so close to my heart. I will be eternally grateful to the guys," said the emotional Tah in the interview.

The 29-year-old will have the chance to choose his future destination as a free agent. The Sun today add Newcastle United to the long list of suitors, which includes Bayern Munich. However, despite their financial struggles, FC Barcelona are currently the favorites to close the deal.
