Earlier this morning, DiMarzio had reported that the Italian outfit were considering whether to get serious when it comes to potentially securing the signature of the 32-year-old.
However Kicker now suggests that the interest has cooled down significantly, with things going quiet on Milan's side due to the €40 million valuation placed on the veteran midfielder by Die Werkself.
Going into potential negotiations, Milan had assumed that a significantly cheaper overall package would be available, with the club reluctant to make such a huge investment on a player who will soon turn 33.
Since joining Leverkusen in 2023, Xhaka has missed just two Bundesliga matches across two seasons at the BayArena, and with a high price tag on his head, the Swiss midfielder is looking set to stay in North Rhine-Westphalia.
