The Germany national team's disappointing World Cup exit in the Round of 32 against Paraguay is set to have major consequences.
Head coach Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly set to be sacked immediately, according to a report from Sport BILD this evening.
The tabloid newspaper understands that Nagelsmann's dismissal will “now be decided swiftly" with doubts looming large.
Furthermore, DFB director Rudi Völler, one of Nagelsmann's last supporters, has now also distanced himself from his position.
Since the dismissal of the national coach requires approval from various bodies, this process is relatively "time-consuming."
Nagelsmann's contract supposedly includes a termination clause, where they can terminate and pay the 38-year-old a 50% severance.
The daily newspaper writes that currently “everything points to Germany's desired national coach, Jürgen Klopp.”
Nagelsmann's successor is expected to be decided quickly – the likes of Pep Guardiola or Ralf Rangnick are not being considered.
