Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was full of praise for his team's performance tonight after they defeated PSG on a 2-1 scoreline.

“The second-half was, of course, a completely different game. In the first half, you could see who the better team was," he said, in his post-match interview.

“Playing with ten men isn't easy, of course, but we often have situations in training where we're outnumbered – ten against eight – and we want to defend really well in those situations. We proved that today.

“We were outnumbered, even up front, and everyone had a hard time – even Harry Kane against three opponents. But we stayed compact, we fought and that was the key," he said.

Perhaps the game's most controversial moment hinged on Luis Díaz's red card - Neuer spoke with caution regarding referee Maurizio Mariani's decision to send the Colombian off.

“That was a bizarre situation. It took a long time, and then the referee finally came to me. In my opinion, that was pointless, because he simply informed me of the decision.

"He [the referee] didn't need to take me out of goal for that. That's what we have the captain on the pitch for.

“I only saw it from a distance. I was told it wasn't a particularly hard foul, one that warranted a red card. You have to see it for yourself," the 39-year-old explained.
