Flick: "This is just the beginning of the process"

Hnasi Flick has admitted that his Germany side are still a work in progress.
Germany were in deep trouble in their charity match against Ukraine last night, but two late goals salvaged a 3-3 draw.

In a post-match interview, Germany coach Hansi Flick admitted that his side still have a lot of work to do to reach the level they want to be at for next year's European Championship.

"All our mistakes were punished immediately and we just weren't good enough on defense," Flick admitted.

"We know we still have a lot of work to do and that this is just the beginning of the process, so we need to eliminate these mistakes in our upcoming games and be rock solid in defense."

Flick's side now face games against Poland (Friday, June 16) and Colombia (Tuesday, June 20), and the former Bayern Munich coach wants his players to show a different face in those matches.

"If we're going to focus on the positives, it's this: we managed to draw level thanks to two individual moments from Kai Havertz. Nevertheless, we have to pick ourselves up and go again on Friday if we want to avoid making the same mistakes," said Flick.
