The pressure is mounting on Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic after another disappointing result, a 1-1 draw at home to 15th-placed Mainz on Tuesday night.

The result means that Dortmund will end 2023 on a six-game winless streak, and according to a recent Bild report, the club's bosses now want to sit down with Terzic for a crisis meeting.

Speaking after the draw against Mainz, Terzic said he'd like to remain in charge, but that the decision is not up to him.

"I signed a contract until 2025. I have documented how much and how long I want to stay with this club. It is not up to me to decide how long I will be here, it is up to the management and the results," said Terzic, who described the recent period as a "crisis in terms of results".

Even though the results have not been up to the standards expected by Dortmund, he still seems to have the support of the team.

"It has nothing to do with the coach that the ball hits the crossbar," said captain Emre Can, pointing out that some things are out of Terzic's control.

Julian Brandt, who scored Dortmund's only goal against Mainz, said he believes the players need to step up.

"I have no problem with the coach. It is the simplest story. I think we have a big responsibility in the team and we have to live up to it," Brandt said.
