Player ratings: Germany (versus Sweden)
We have rated the German performances against Sweden on a scale from 1 to 5.
| Marco Reus was behind the German equaliser in the 2-1 win over Sweden. |
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer - 3
Couldn't be faulted for the Swedish goal and made a great save to keep out Marcus Berg's attempt before the break. Didn't have much to do in the second half.
Right-back: Joshua Kimmich - 2
Wasn't up to his usual standards, but did better than against Mexico. Sent many dangerous crosses into the Swedish penalty area in the second half particularly.
Centre-back: Jerome Boateng - 1
Could have committed a penalty in the first half as he brought down Marcus Berg and was sent off after a receiving a second yellow card in the second half.
Centre-back: Antonio Rüdiger - 2
Seemed nervous from the start of the game and made a number of mistakes during the first half. Did better in the second half, but also wasn't tested as much as he was during the first 45 minutes.
Left-back: Jonas Hector - 2
Came forward a lot, but didn't have much luck with his crosses and passes into the box. Was caught too high up the pitch a few times.
Defensive midfielder: Toni Kroos - 3
Had a bad first half as he gave too many balls away and was responsible for the first goal. Was better after the break and scored the winning goal with a wonderful free-kick.
Defensive midfielder: Sebastian Rudy - 3
Was a surprising addition to the German line-up, but played well and added stability to the team before he had to leave the pitch with a bleeding nose.
Right wing: Thomas Müller - 2
Another poor performance from Müller. Didn't get to many chances, and when he did, he missed. Gave many balls away.
Offensive midfielder: Marco Reus - 4
Very influental in the German offense and linked up well with his team-mates. Started the German comeback as he scored the first goal.
Left wing: Julian Draxler - 2
Was substituted at the break after an anonymous performance.
Striker: Timo Werner - 2
Made some good runs in behind Sweden's defense, but never really seemed threatening in front of goal. Did well to send the ball into the penalty area to help creating Reus' goal.
Substitutes:
Ilkay Gündogan (2)
Weak performance from the Manchester City midfielder who didn't make his mark on the game after replacing Rudy.
Mario Gomez (2)
Positioned himself well in the penalty area, but missed a number of chances.
Julian Brandt (N/A)
For the second match in a row, the Bayer Leverkusen starlet impressed after he was brought on the field in the end of the match. Took a nice shot from distance that hit the post.
