Germany U21 international Caspar Jander joins Southampton on a permanent transfer. The 2. Bundesliga midfielder was in the radar of DFB-Pokal holders VfB Stuttgart for months before the move failed to materialize at the eleventh hour.

Nürnberg now complete the deal with Southampton for a reported €12 million. Jander signed a contract until 2029 with the Saints. The former youth player at Borussia Dortmund and Schalke joined Nürnberg on a free transfer last year.

“It is really incredible. When I heard that Southampton wanted me, I was immediately thrilled. I am really happy to be here,” said the 22-year-old central midfielder. Southampton also have another German prospect in Armel Bella-Kotchap, but the center-back will spend this season on loan at Hellas Verona.
