Dortmund reportedly content with Bensebaini and Rothe at left-back

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Borussia Dortmund - relatively pleased with the extra work Ramy Bensebaini has put in during the offseason - will be abandoning their search for a new left back.

Following a disappointing campaign with his new club, Algerian fullback Ramy Bensebaini was assigned an extensive offseason fitness training regimen with his long-time private coach. As Dortmund training camp begins ahead of the new season, Germany's "Sport BIld" tabloid reports that the Westphalian club is relatively pleased with the 29-year-old's progress and prepared to give him another chance to secure the starting left-back position.

Dortmund have - per the newspaper - abandoned attempts to sign a replacement for the departed Ian Maatsen. Turkish defender Ferdi Erenay Kadıoğlu of Fenerbahçe was taken under consideration, but a reported €30 million price tag leaves the Westphalians disinterested in pursuing a deal further. In terms of a direct competitor for Bensebaini, Kiel returnee Tom Rothe shall serve as the main alternative.
