Sky report Union Berlin have already found their attacking reinforcement with the 20-year-old Ilyas Ansah. The capital city club reached full agreement for the German U20 international with Paderborn.

The transfer fee is expected to be in the range of €4 million plus bonuses. Sky also report that Union’s managing director Horst Heldt played a crucial role in convincing the player and arranging the deal.

Ansah was promoted to Paderborn’s first team at the start of the 2023-24 season. In the concluded campaign, he reached double digits for goal involvements, including netting six goals in the race for promotion.

Including two goals against his parents' country Ghana, Ansah netted five times for Germany U20. He didn’t make the cut for this summer’s U21 Euros. Hamburger SV were also previously linked with the striker as the newly-promoted side could lose top-scorer Davie Selke. Only two teams in the Bundesliga scored fewer goals than Union this season.
