With Omar Marmoush looking likely to leave Eintracht Frankfurt for a top club this summer, Mainz striker Jonathan Burkardt has been touted as a possible replacement.

Now, in an interview with Bild, Eintracht honorary supervisory board member Wolfgang Steubing has confirmed that the club would consider a move for Burkardt should he want to leave Mainz.

“If a German player like Burkardt is on the market, we will definitely make an effort for him," Steubing said.

In a separate interview with Hessenschau, Eintracht board member for sport Markus Krösche also expressed his admiration for Burkardt.

“'Jonny' Burkardt is certainly an extremely good player who has developed very well at Mainz. But there's no point talking about players who don't play for Eintracht Frankfurt," Krösche said.

According to Bild, Eintracht could imagine paying a maximum of €20 million for Burkardt.
