Today, the players barely dare to speak their minds, says FC Nürnberg captain Hanno Behrens.

According to the midfielder, the fear of saying something that will become twisted or that you will be confronted with in the future has led to a loss of authenticity.

"As a player, you can barely voice your honest opinion in public. Every word is weighed," Behrens told t-online.de and added:

"You are confronted with statements that you may have said years ago. Therefore, we - the players - have become cautious, and that inevitably leads to a loss of authenticity."

Last week, the Bayern München bosses took a swipe at the media for being too harsh in their criticism of the Bavarian club's players.
