"Philipp comes from the Palatinate and knows FCK from his youth," Lautern boss Thomas Hengen noted in a statement released by the 2. Bundesliga club, "He knows what's expected here. He is not only a goal scorer, but also a good set-up man. He's also of high quality when it comes to set-pieces."
"Even when I was a spectator at the Betze during the relegation match against Dynamo Dresden, the thought of putting on the FCK jersey again occurred to me," the midfielder himself added at the signing, "So when the request came from Kaiserslautern, I didn't have to think twice."
As the Pfälzer Red Devils continue their promotion push with hopes of getting back into the top flight, the have acquired a player with some experience in this regard. Klement helped Steffen Baumgart's SC Paderborn 07 achieve promotion during the 2018/19 campaign.
Klement actually helped Paderborn achieve back-to back promotions from the third flight to the top tier, precisely what Lautern are attempting to accomplish this year.
