After six years in the Bundesrepublik, it appears as if the once highly touted Danish youth international Nikolas Nartey will be heading back to his youth academy club of FC Copenhagen. Nartey first came down south to join the FC Köln system back in 2017. He made two appearances for the Geißböcke senior side before Stuttgart signed him ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Nartey has twice been loaned out by the Swabians, spending seasons at Hansa Rostock and SV Sandhausen in the lower divisions. He's made a total of 17 top tier appearances, eight of which have come this year. George Moissidis of Germany's Kicker Magazine - who does have sources within VfB - lends credence to a report appearing in Denmark's "BT" tabloid concerning Copenhagen's interest.

Stuttgart's roster has long been considered far too bloated, even under the previous managerial regime of Sven Mislintat. Loan-outs have reduced the active roster to 29 professionals, but the Württembergers will find themselves in desperate need of trimming this summer irrespective of which division they play in.

The newly managerial regime of Fabian Wohlgemuth are reported to want only one of the current six loaned out players back from their parked locations. There would likely be no resistance to Nartey's departure. The 23-year-old maintains an estimated market worth of €1.8 million, but could surely be purchased for much less.
