Agent: Fährmann is 'angry and upset' about being benched

Ralf Fährmann's agent admits his client is 'angry and upset' about Domenico Tedesco's decision to bench him for Alexander Nübel.
When Schalke 04 began the second half of the Bundesliga season against VfL Wolfsburg last weekend, captain Ralf Fährmann surprisingly had to settle for the bench with Alexander Nübel playing instead.

And Schalke 04 coach Domenico Tedesco's decision to bench Fährmann has been a tough blow for the 30-year-old, according to his agent, Stefan Backs.

"Ralf is angry and upset," Backs told Sport1.

It has been reported that Fährmann could even leave the club this month, but Backs underlines a move isn't on the cards right now, although the experienced goalkeeper obviously isn't happy about being on the bench.

"Ralf is too young to sit on the bench permanently. He's good enough to play at the same level for another club. But it's difficult for him, because he's a Schalke player with heart and soul," Backs told Sport1.

"As long as Ralf is still emotional - and he is at the moment - it makes no sense to make a decision in the direction of a transfer. He's not working on finding another club, and he'll not be doing so in the next few weeks," he explained.

Fährmann has made 228 appearances for Schalke.
