Engels banned for two matches following red card

FC Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels' red card against Mainz on Saturday will cost the young Belgian two league fixtures.
FC Augsburg will have to do without Arne Engels until after the international break. On Monday, the German FA's disciplinary arm confirmed that the 20-year-old's red card against FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday will cost him an additional match. Engels will remain unavailable for Augsburg's forthcoming fixtures against Freiburg and Darmstadt.

Engels' tackle on Mainz's Aymen Barkok in Saturday's win led to his immediate ejection by match official Marco Fritz. Since joining the Fuggerstädter last January, the Belgian youth international has been a regular fixture in FCA head-coach Enrico Maaßen's starting XI. That continued this season as Engels started all five league fixtures, even filling in as a makeshift right back during the first three games of the season.

Engels recorded one assist during the opening day draw with Gladbach.
