Confirmed: Hertha sign Santiago Ascacibar

Santiago Ascacibar has joined Hertha BSC from VfB Stuttgart.
Hertha BSC have announced the signing of Santiago Ascacibar from VfB Stuttgart.

The Argentine midfielder has put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the German capital club.

"Santiago can play at a variety of different positions in central midfield," said sporting director Michael Preetz in a statement.

"At just 22 years old, he is a young midfielder in the midst of his development and is strong in tackles. We’re extremely pleased to have added another talented player to our squad," he added.

After signing his deal, Ascacibar said:

“I'm pleased that we were able to complete the transfer during the winter break. After discussions with Michael Preetz and [head coach] Jürgen Klinsmann, I'm confident that I will be able to continue my development as a player at Hertha BSC and that we will be able to achieve many things here together."

Ascacibar has made 15 appearances for Stuttgart this season.
