Eintracht Frankfurt striker Jonathan Burkardt has been handed a fine for disciplinary reasons, head coach Albert Riera confirmed on Friday.

Reports have suggested Burkardt insulted Riera after scoring in last week’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, but the coach didn't go into specifics.

"He did something that had to be punished internally," Riera said (via AFP).

“I cleared it up with the group, he accepted it. He apologised. That is the most important thing for me.”

According to reports, Eintracht Frankfurt are planning to part ways with Riera after Saturday’s final game of the season against VfB Stuttgart. The 44-year-old, however, insists a dismissal is not on his mind.

"I haven't thought about it being my last match for half a second. I am thinking about Stuttgart and the fans. I have a fantastic summer ahead of me," said the coach, who has only been at Eintracht Frankfurt since January.
