Seoane confirms muscle fiber tear for Honorat
Borussia Mönchengladbach will have to do without one of their better attackers indefinitely. The versatile midfielder/winger/fullback Franck Honorat - it was revealed at a Thursday presser - has suffered a muscle tear in his calf. BMG trainer Gerardo Seoane confirmed the news directly.
Honorat notched his fourth career Bundesliga tally in Gladbach's round two win over VfL Bochum; to date the only league win for Seoane's foals in the current campaign. Gladbach are coming off back-to-back league losses against Stuttgart and Frankfurt. A home match against Union Berlin awaits on Saturday.
Seoane compensated for Honorat's absence last week by moving Kevin Stöger into the ten slot and starting Robin Hack and Nathan Ngoumou on the wings. Despite the fact that the Niederrheiners lost away and Frankfurt, the team delivered what was largely regarded to be a worthwhile performance.
"We're not satisfied with three points from four games," Seoane noted at his presser, "We showed promising performances in the first few games. We could have achieved more if we had taken better care of the details."
Seoane revealed nothing of his tactical plans at the press conference, but did note that Honorat's fellow Frenchman Alassane Plea (having recently recovered from his own injury) might be a candidate to return to the starting XI. Plea, Stöger, Hack, and Ngoumou are, per Seoane, all options.
“All of them have provided arguments for playing this week,” Seoane said, "We'll need all of them. The only question is who starts and who might come on during the game."
