Aljoscha Kemlein has put pen to paper on a new contract with 1. FC Union Berlin.

The Bundesliga side announced a new long-term deal for the 20-year-old on Wednesday, with the exact duration of the contract remaining undisclosed.

“Union are my club, I grew up and took my first steps in professional football here,” said Kemlein, who has been with the club since 2016.

The German U21 international established himself as a starter in central midfield during the 2024/25 season before a foot injury prematurely ended his campaign.

“I’m highly motivated for the coming season, want to continue developing, and make my contribution on the pitch,” he stressed.

“Helping this club achieve its goals, growing together with the team, and continuing this path with Union means an incredible amount to me. I can’t wait to get back into action.”

Horst Heldt, director of men’s professional football at Union Berlin, spoke highly of the midfielder’s development and potential:

“We’ve been working with Aljoscha since his youth and see great potential in him. He already possesses a high level of quality and has demonstrated his game intelligence and playing style at the top level. At the same time, he’s continuing to develop every day, and we’re convinced that he’ll take on an even more important role in our team in the years to come.”
