Union sell Laïdouni to Qatari outfit

Union Berlin and Tunisian international Aïssa Laïdouni have officially parted company.

FC Union Berlin have sold Tunisian international Aïssa Laïdouni to Qatari outfit Al-Wakrah Sport Club. Both clubs involved in the deal have agreed not to divulge the terms of the transfer. Laïdouni was purchased from Hungary's Ferencvárosi during the January 2023 transfer window for a reported €2.6 million. He initially impressed and pumped his estimated market worth up to a career high of €10 million in October of 2023.

In the midst of Union's disappointing campaign, Laïdouni's role with die Eisernen declined this past season. The 26-year-old mostly featured only as a subistute in his 23 league appearances during the 2023/24 campaign. As a result, his estimated market worth fell back down to €6 million. Laïdouni departs German football having made a total of 50 competitive appearances for Union. He notched two league tallies and collected four assists across all comps.

"Aïssa immediately brought his own mark to the game and hardly needed any time to get used to it," newly appointed FCU managing director Horst Heldt noted in a club statement confirming the departure, "Aissa has always acted in the interests of the team and given everything for our club."

"For me, the one-and-a-half years at 1. FC Union Berlin were a very special time," the player himself added, "I was able to experience an extraordinary phase and gain unforgettable experiences. My thanks go to all Union players and I wish the club all the best for the future."
