Dortmund linked with Argentine defender as potential Schlotterbeck cover

Die Schwarzgelben are on the lookout for a Nico Schlotterbeck replacement until the German international recovers from a lengthy injury.

Bild have reported that Juan Giménez from Argentine first division club Rosario Central is a possible target for Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old central defender is only tied to the club until the end of the year, but could make for a temporary Schlotterbeck replacement.

With Schlotterback currently recovering from a torn meniscus, the 25-year-old will not return to BVB's team training until September.

Meanwhile, online portal Fussballeuropa.com senses that the Argentine defensive talent would be worth between €4 to 4.5million.

However, Borussia Dortmund is said to be not the only club pursuing Giménez. Manchester United is also reportedly keeping an eye on the youngster.

In addition to Giménez, Liverpool's Jarell Quansah is also said to have attracted BVB's interest but costs significantly more at upwards of €35million.
