Kicker Report: Gladbach seek Kramer's early release, door open for Fraulo?

In an interview with Germany's Kicker Magazine, Borussia Mönchengladbach assistant coach Guido Streichsbier noted that the club with the progress of Danish youth international Oscar Fraulo during the midfielder's recent loan-stint in the Dutch Erdevisie.

Kicker reports that Fraulo might actually have decent prospects of breaking through the Gladbach midfield logjam after German international Christoph Kramer's contract is prematurely terminated.

A competitive logjam in central midfield led to Borussia Mönchengladbach's Danish prospect Oscar Fraulo receiving a loan-out to Utrecht this autumn. The 20-year-old has - at least according to BMG assistant coach Guido Streichsbier - impressed the club's coaching team. Fraulo has scored three goals and registered four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for his Erdevisie outfit this season. The youngster has improved his game on both sides of the ball.

"Defensively, he has become more stable in duels and has got a better feel for pressing situations," Streichsbier is quoted as saying by Germany's Kicker Magazine,' That's one of the things that's important for a good player in the center."

The rise of Rocco Reitz and the signing of Kiel skipper Philipp Sander may initially make it appear as if Fraulo is without prospects in a midfield that also features the likes of Julian Weigl, Manu Koné, Florian Neuhaus, and Christoph Kramer. The fact that Weigl usually plays as a sweeper and that Neuhaus and Koné are rumored to be headed for the exit door nevertheless shifts the dynamic.

Kicker now reports that the foals wish to shed themselves of the 33-year-old Kramer. The 2014 World Cup champion remains under contract through the end of next season, but is - per the magazine - in negotiations to be prematurely released as he no longer plays much of a role in head-coach Gerardo Seoane's plans. Kramer made only14 league appearances (one start) this season.
