Although RB Leipzig want to extend Xaver Schlager's contract, reparations are already underway in the event of a possible departure.

As reported by Sport BILD, Marlon Gomes of Shakhtar Donetsk remains firmly in the Bundesliga club's sights.

The 1.84-meter-tall, right-footed player is very high on the list of candidates, should the Austrian international leave.

Schlager has entered the final year of his contract in Lower Saxony, but wants to take his time deciding on his future.

Leipzig are fundamentally committed to continuing the relationship with the 28-year-old, but want clarity by the end of the year.

Furthermore, the expiring contracts of Kevin Kampl and Amadou Haidara are not expected to be extended either.
