According to Sport BILD, Bayer Leverkusen have shown interest in signing Leon Goretzka on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in summer.

Transfer journalist Axel Hesse is aware that Leverkusen have even inquired to the player's management about the feasibility of the deal.

Goretzka has not categorically rejected the idea but currently prefers a move abroad, with the Premier League and enticing destination.

It's believed the Rhinelanders want Goretzka as a leader to fill the void Granit Xhaka left in midfield to join Sunderland last summer.

Bayern chief Christoph Freund has already confirmed that the 31-year-old midfielder will leave the Bavarians at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen could face stiff competition after it was reported that Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Goretzka's situation.
