After an impressive 2024/25 campaign with Mainz, Nadiem Amiri has been linked with a move away from the club.

However, unlike fellow star Jonathan Burkardt, who is close to a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt, it appears the central midfielder is set to stay put.

“We are not letting him go. Period,” Mainz director of sport Christian Heidel told Kicker.

During the summer break, Mainz have agreed to Amiri’s request to switch his shirt number from 18 to 10.

“Nadiem wouldn’t say, ‘I want the number 10’ - and then leave tomorrow,” Heidel emphasized.

“He will stay with 99.9 percent certainty.”
