Stuttgart confirm Stergiou's arrival
Shortly before confirming Konstantinos Mavropanos' sale to West Ham yesterday, VfB Stuttgart unveiled a new addition for their central defensive corps.

The 21-year-old remains a developmental prospect; definitely not a direct replacement for the departed Konstantinos Mavropanos. The Swabians will likely continue to search for an experienced central defender to help close the gap left by the Greek's departure.
"We have been following the development of Leonidas Stergiou for quite some time," VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth noted in a club statement, "He has already gained valuable experience in the Swiss Super League and as a Swiss U-21 international."
The youngster himself noted that he had been persuaded to join Stuttgart after discussions with teammate Chadrac Akolo. The Congolese midfielder played in Swabia between 2017 and 2019, scoring six goals in 44 appearances for VfB.
"It feels incredibly good and very nice to be able to sign a contract with a club like VfB Stuttgart," Stergiou said, "I exchanged a few words with Chadrac Akolo and only heard good things about the club and its outstanding fans. VfB Stuttgart, the city and the region have a lot to offer. I'm looking forward to getting to know everything as soon as possible."
