Denis Zakaria has been out with a knee injury since March, and it seems Borussia Mönchengladbach will have to wait a while longer before seeing him back on the pitch.

The fact that the 23-year-old didn't make the squad for Thursday's 4-0 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf in a friendly "shows that he isn't close" to returning, Gladbach coach Marco Rose told reporters after the game.

"He isn't ready yet," said Rose and added that "it's anybody's guess" when Zakaria will be back in training.

The Swiss midfielder has played 96 games for Gladbach, racking up eight goals and six assists.
