Sané to play CWC, Musiala set to inherit his jersey number

In a surprising turn of events, Leroy Sané will play the Club World Cup group stage with Bayern Munich.

As expected, Turkish giants Galatasaray completed the transfer of Leroy Sané on a free transfer. At first, the German international was expected to immediately leave Bayern Munich, but Sky’s Florian Plettenberg now reports that he’s already on his way to join the team in Orlando on Friday.

Positive talks between Bayern and Galatasaray led to the change of plans as Sané’s Bayern contract makes him eligible to play for the Bavarians until the end of June. In addition to the group stage games, he could take part in the Round of 16 tie if Bayern reach the knockout stages.

However, he’ll not be available for the rest of the tournament since he’ll be a free agent at the end of the month. Meanwhile, Jamal Musiala could inherit Sané’s #10 jersey as he has always wished to wear the number since joining the club from Chelsea. The 22-year-old wears #10 in the national team.
