A high-profile clash will open the 2025/26 2. Bundesliga season on August 1 at 20:30 CEST.
As revealed by the German Football League (DFL), FC Schalke 04 will host Hertha BSC at the VELTINS-Arena in the opening match.
Both clubs have rich histories in the Bundesliga, but have been competing in Germany’s second tier in recent years.
Schalke finished 14th in the 2. Bundesliga last season, while Hertha ended the campaign in 11th place.
The full fixture lists for both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga will be released later today, Friday, at 14:00 CEST.
