VfL Wolfsburg head coach Daniel Bauer will have to do without Kilian Fischer for the foreseeable future, the club has confirmed.

It was made clear by the club's medical personnel that right-back has suffered a serious injury to his left adductor muscle.

The 25-year-old picked up the knock in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund and had to be substituted in the 17th-minute.

It comes as a blow to the already injury-hit Autostadt club, also without Joakhim Mæhle who is suffering from shoulder problems.

The hope for Bauer and Wolfsburg is that fellow full-back Saël Kumbedi can recover from illness in time for Sunday's trip to face RB Leipzig.

Fischer has made twelve appearances for Wolfsburg so far this season, but is yet to help his side keep a clean sheet when starting.
