Former Bayern Munich star Mario Basler caused a stir earlier this year when he confidently stated that he expects Eintracht Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche to join the German champions next summer.

Speaking to Sport1, the 56-year-old reaffirmed his conviction.

“That’s what I’ve heard, and I stick to it,” Basler said.

Krösche could potentially replace replace Bayern’s current board member for sport, Max Eberl, who is reportedly considering stepping down.

“I think Max will step down after the season. Or maybe even in the winter. In my view, Markus Krösche will come after the season. As I’ve said, the talks are very far advanced,” Basler added.

Meanwhile, on the Sport1 TV show Doppelpass on Sunday, Bayern supervisory board member Uli Hoeness explained that he and fellow veteran Karl-Heinz Rummenigge remain involved in the club's affairs because the “right people” are not yet in the “right positions” within management.

“The moment we have the right people in the right positions, ‘Kalle’ and I will step back,” Hoeness said.
