After a disastrous start to the season, both coach Dieter Hecking and sporting director Dirk Dufner parted ways with Bochum.

The club have since announced Uwe Rösler as the new head coach, with the 56-year-old officially starting his duties on Monday.

A club statement read: “We are delighted to have found an extremely experienced coach in Uwe Rösler, who has left his mark internationally and seen a lot throughout his career.”

“In discussions with us, he impressed with his expertise and authority.”

Rösler brings a wealth of experience from previous spells across Europe, having coached in Norway, England, Sweden, and most recently at Aarhus GF in Denmark, where he was known for his tactical acumen. He also has German coaching experience, including a stint at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Bochum have won just once since their relegation to the 2. Bundesliga, leaving them 17th in the standings. They face a tough test away at Kaiserslautern on Saturday, before Rösler takes charge for the first time against Hertha after the international break.
