Dortmund updates: Sales of Rothe and Brunner close to being finalized

Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Union Berlin have finalized the terms of the deal that shall see 19-year-old German left back Tom Rothe head to Köpenick on a permanent basis.

In other Dortmund-related personnel news, Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that die Schwarzgelben may have also found a taker for attacking prospect and Germany U17 World Champion Paris Brunner.

Union Berlin's interest in Dortmund fullback Tom Rothe has apparently led to a concrete agreement on a permanent sale. Germany's Kicker Magazine presently confirms a report originating in North-Rhine Westphalia's "Ruhr Nachrichten" newspaper earlier today. Rothe will move to the Köpenick quarter of Germany's capital for a transfer fee of €5 million. Dortmund have reportedly hedged their bets by securing a buyback option for their young talent.

It appeared as if - following a successful loan stint with Holstein Kiel last season - Dortmund wished to retain Rothe ahead of the new season. The signing of Brazilian fullback Yan Couto nevertheless shifted the calculus. Couto - who, like BVB fullback Julian Ryerson, can play on either side - pushed Rothe down the depth chart. Union themselves recently sold third-string left back Tymoteusz Puchacz to Kiel.

In other Dortmund-related transfer news involving a young prospect, Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reports that scheduled talks with 18-year-old striker Paris Brunner have led all parties to the conclusion that the Germany U17 World Champion should continue his career elsewhere. The paper claims that talks with AS Monaco over a sale are ongoing. The Ligue 1 club wishes to purchase Brunner and immediately loan him out to Cercle Brugge.
